I feel very lucky to be a part of HCIMB with you guys and I know I can pass down my duties without any worries knowing that the new batch of leaders are just as capable. So good luck, and enjoy your next year of awesome band life under the new Band ExCo!

NDP 2011

By Po En. Posted in Misc. | Comments Off

Hey Bandits!

Please be reminded once again the reporting time for tomorrow is 6.50am, meaning that we will take attendance at 6.50am (obr time) sharp and you are expected to be fully dressed by then. This also means you need to come BEFORE 6.50 am to change and set up your instruments. If you arrive early, start changing and warming up the moment you are here. ‘All actions need to be cut by 7.20′, so we have very little time for warm ups, so make sure you STAY ALERT!

For non-performers:

Please also report at 6.50am and help to move percussion instruments as the rest of the band do warm-ups. If possible, please also bring along a digital camera to capture the important and historical moments of the band tomorrow XD Yong Yao will be supplying his DSLR and he will teach one of you guys how to operate it.

———————————————————————————————————————————-

Tomorrow is the day! after two months of preparation and all the hard work we’ve put in, we’re finally going to showcase our formation during ndp tomorrow! Note that this is the first outdoor performance by HCIMB since 2008 and this will also (sadly) be the last performance the sec 2s -sec 4s are going to have together as a band officially. So make sure you rest well tonight, step into obr with an confident mind and make it a blast on the field tmr!!! :D

Proud to be a part of HCIMB,
Po En

NDP 2011 Formation

By Po En. Posted in Misc. | Comments Off

Hi Bandits,

Here are the two links for NDP 2011 Formation. The first one will be the pdf file with the individual steps for each set, while the second one will be an overview of the entire band for each set. Please download them, fully understand them and MEMORISE all the steps. As you can see, we do not have much time. Thus, we will be testing each and everyone of you before next Tuesday to check if you have memorised the steps (including the number of beats between each set of formation), so please use this weekend to get it done. Thanks.

p.s Just a tip for you guys to memorise your steps effectively, I suggest that you print out both your own steps and the overview and go through it with your Singapore Flyer scores. Try to visualise how you are going to move on the grid so that it won’t be so difficult to memorise. Jiayou! ^^

June Holiday Band Practice Schedule

By Po En. Posted in Band Practices | Comments Off

Hi Bandits,

Here is the band practice schedule for June holiday week 3 and week 4 (main band + sec 1s):

Main band will be preparing for NDP, while sec 1s will be having full band with Mr Kiang.

14/6 Tuesday 8 am to 12 pm

15/6 Wednesday 8 am to 12 pm

17/6 Friday 8 am to 12 pm

21/6 Tuesday 8 am to 12 pm

22/6 Wednesday 8 am to 12 pm

24/6 Friday 8 am to 12 pm

Things to bring: accessories for your instruments(mouthpiece, reed, etc), water bottle

Attire: PE attire

Please also memorise Singapore Flyer by next Tuesday. (If we ask you to play  bar x of y, you should know too)

——————————————————————————————————————————–

I hope that after two weeks of break from band, we all had enough rest (and enough time to finish our homework), so please come back next tuesday with a serious mindset, ready to start preparing for NDP. If you do a simple countdown now, we have only 1+ months left to NDP, which is really short to prepare a band for outdoors from nothing.

Hence, in order to be fully prepared by NDP, we need to make full use of every minute of band practice, which means to say that all of us have to come for EVERY band practice until NDP. This is even more crucial when we start practising for formation, so make your necessary arrangements before band practice starts, and let’s make the last event we do together as a band an awesome one! :)
