QM Matters

By dequan. Posted in Misc. |

Hi,

Here are some important announcements. Please read them carefully. :)

1) Instrument Cleaning
We are overdue for an instrument cleaning, and this is scheduled for one of the days during the September holidays (if there are band practices). More instructions will be given as soon as the date is confirmed. [SLs: Make sure you teach the Sec 1s how to clean their instruments.]

2) Instrument Spot-checks
From now on, I (with the help of the SLs) will be carrying out random instrument spot-checks. If your instrument (or your case)  is found to be in undesirable conditions, you will be subjected to corrective punishment. Hence, please make sure you clean your instrument every day and keep your cases neat and tidy.

3) Loan Forms
Loan forms for your instruments will be printed and passed to you soon. Please fill in the details, get your parents to sign the forms, and return them to me. This is for administrative purposes, so that I can keep track of who is using which instrument. It also ensures you take responsibility for your instruments, as you will be held responsible for any damages to the instruments.

4) Instrument Repairs
There has been a lot of damaged instruments lately, and I hope this will stop. From now on, unless you have valid reasons for your instrument being damaged, you will be expected to pay at least 10% of all repair costs, depending on the extent of damage done to your instrument, as well as other punishments. To save yourself the money (and trouble), please take really, really good care of your instruments.

5) Accessories Purchases
There is a new tab on the navigational bar, named ‘QM Matters’. On the page, you will find a form for you to fill in if you need me to help you purchase any accessories. I will be making regular trips to Accent once every two weeks, and I will help you purchase your accessories (reeds, grease, etc.). If you need any items urgently, you can also reflect it on the form.

Thanks!
Remember to always take care of your instruments and the band rooms!

- De Quan (DQM) :)

NDP 2011

By Po En. Posted in Misc. |

Hey Bandits!

Please be reminded once again the reporting time for tomorrow is 6.50am, meaning that we will take attendance at 6.50am (obr time) sharp and you are expected to be fully dressed by then. This also means you need to come BEFORE 6.50 am to change and set up your instruments. If you arrive early, start changing and warming up the moment you are here. ‘All actions need to be cut by 7.20′, so we have very little time for warm ups, so make sure you STAY ALERT!

For non-performers:

Please also report at 6.50am and help to move percussion instruments as the rest of the band do warm-ups. If possible, please also bring along a digital camera to capture the important and historical moments of the band tomorrow XD Yong Yao will be supplying his DSLR and he will teach one of you guys how to operate it.

———————————————————————————————————————————-

Tomorrow is the day! after two months of preparation and all the hard work we’ve put in, we’re finally going to showcase our formation during ndp tomorrow! Note that this is the first outdoor performance by HCIMB since 2008 and this will also (sadly) be the last performance the sec 2s -sec 4s are going to have together as a band officially. So make sure you rest well tonight, step into obr with an confident mind and make it a blast on the field tmr!!! :D

Proud to be a part of HCIMB,
Po En

Sports, Health & Arts Week (SHAW) Excellence Shield

By kangming. Posted in Misc. |

Hey guys,

As you guys know (or not), the long-awaited Excellence Shield will be held on the 22nd and 23rd of August (Monday and Tuesday), 2011 during the afternoons of the Sabbatical Week for students from the Performing Arts Group, comprising of Band, Choir, Chinese Drama, Chinese Orchestra, English Drama, Ensemble-String or String Orchestra and Piano Ensemble (ripped off from Mr Alvin Tan’s SMB message :) ).

Since it is compulsory for each CCA to send one team for any of the 4 games (Table-tennis, Badminton, 3 v 3 Basketball and  4 v 4 Street Soccer), you are highly encouraged to take part in this event if you have no commitments (you’ll be excused from band prac) on these afternoons and you can play the sport well! Not only can you represent HCIMB, it’s also a good opportunity to bond with the band! :D

For interested applicants, you may fill up the form in the link below. Please be reminded that there is a limit to the number of participants for each sport, so the list of applicants is not confirmed yet. We might go through a round of sport trials if the demand is too high. Lastly, the deadline for application is on 9 August 11 (Tuesday) as we need to collate the numbers soon, so please apply by then!

Thanks!

Darryl (with Cong Yang, Dany, Xianda and Xiaochen) :)
